That year, P.J. van Heugten came up with the idea to recycle film and butter trays that would otherwise have been thrown away. He gave the material a new life, long before the term “circular” became common. In 1980, his son Jan van Heugten founded Modiform. He initially focused on packaging for bakeries, but soon decided to concentrate on the horticultural sector. And we still do.
Until the 1990s, Modiform mainly focused on producing sowing and cutting trays. After that, the range expanded further, and countless products were developed and launched.
Modiform has always worked sustainably, but in the new millennium we decided to communicate this more actively. The focus remained the same: providing solutions that are both sustainable and economically viable.
Modiform was founded as a family business and still is: with short lines and great involvement. We listen to colleagues, customers, and partners and continue to develop together with them. For Modiform, collaboration means building trust and having the drive to move forward together. On to the future!
